The destruction of the world's tropical forests is one of the greatest environmental catastrophes of our time. Every year, 130,000 square kilometers of tropical forests are lost. Rainforest Foundation Norway is one of Europe's leading non-governmental organizations working to protect these forests and strengthen the rights of indigenous peoples. In the DRC, RFN is supporting the establishment of the IPLC Forest Facility, a mechanism dedicated to mobilizing and channelling funding to local and indigenous communities living in high-integrity forests.
Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) has 1 vacancy for IPCL Focal Point in the DRC. Working languages are English, French and Lingala. We are looking for someone who can cooperate well both with our partner organizations and with our team in Kinshasa. The successful candidate should also be methodical, efficient and willing to work independently.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and implement IFF activities at Landscape level
- Coordinate the participatory development of IFF's Landscape strategy
- Support communities in project development
- Act as a link between the various project stakeholders and the IFF Secretariat
- Support the implementation of the IFF governance and MEL system
- Consolidate small grant proposals.

- Other tasks and responsibilities may be added, including tasks outside the area of responsibility described.
Skills and abilities required.
- Good knowledge of cooperation with Congolese civil society
- In-depth knowledge of the context of at least one of the target landscapes
- Proven ability to create momentum and coordinate complex multi-stakeholder processes.
- Excellent command of participatory approaches
- Thorough understanding of IPLC territorial management and how it is implemented and developed at provincial level.
- Thorough understanding of and full commitment to rights-based and bottom-up approaches to intervention.
- In-depth understanding of provincial policy arenas and instruments relevant to rainforest protection is an asset.
- Good collaborative skills contributing to the development of strategic RFN partnerships. This includes:
* Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage with different cultures and environments, including a clear understanding of the RFN added value in a partnership.
* Demonstrated ability to plan work within and across units
- Excellent writing and synthesis skills. This includes extensive experience of delivering and producing reports on time.
- Networking skills with experience in building relationships and professional networks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant higher education in the field or social sciences.
- Any formal education may be offset by relevant experience.
- Several years of professional experience in the management of development or humanitarian programs.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of relevant program country politics, policy areas and actors.
