The position is to be filled from January 1, 2021 with an initial contract duration of two years. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As Expert Logistics, you coordinate the logistics team of the Welthungerhilfe Country Office in DR Congo and provide direct support to the Head of projects. You will be responsible for the accurate implementation of all processes related to procurement and logistics on the basis of the specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget.
Your responsibilities
- Ensuring proper procurement of all required items for the projects in close collaboration with key staff
- Ensuring fully transparent and corruption-free implementation of contracting and subcontracting of services
- Making full use of the data systems of Welthungerhilfe DRC and advice on their further development
- Advising on the introduction of more efficient asset management (including fleet management)
- Reintroducing of data processing of asset use
- Preparing monthly summaries on asset management and cost accounting
- Supporting the logistics staff in the Regional Offices in managing their logistical work more efficiently
- Assisting in the use and development of data systems
- Establishment and use of a real-time data system for inventory management
- Disciplinary leadership of staff and giving clear recommendations to the Country Director and the Head of Projects
Your profile
- A university or polytechnic degree in development cooperation/humanitarian aid/logistics, or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
- Several years of job-related experience, preferably in the region
- Sound experience with planning and data collection methods
- BMZ/EU/KFW donor experience is an asset
- Coordination and organizational skills - even under a high workload
- Broad intercultural competence and ability to cope in an international team
- Ability to cope in conflict zones and fragile environments
- Willingness to travel in the region
- A very good command of spoken and written English and French, Swahili language skills would be an advantage
